Famous Muslim scholar Abdul Qadir Jilani is the author of the book "Manaqib". Written by Umar Hujwiri, it is an award-winning biography of this foremost saint. The book has been translated into English by Munshi Faizuddin. The publication of the English version is to mark the 1,400th anniversary of the birth of Jilani. The book, published by Tafseer Foundation, contains Faizuddin's translation of "Manaqib" along with his own commentary. Faizuddin's introduction consists mainly of quotations from Qadiri saint-poets Az-Zaghal, Abu Bakr al-Iraqi, Amr bin Shu'ala and Bahauddin Zakariya. He also includes aspects of Jilani's biography not found in other works."Manaqib" is said to have been written by Umar Hujwiri who was a disciple of Abdul Qadir Jilani. The book narrates the life of Jilani especially about his dargahs (holy places). "Manaqib" consists of seven chapters. The English translation of the book appears before other important books like "Taqwacu 1", "Taqwacu 2", "Taqwacu 3", etc. The first two can be read free online at http://www.tafseerfoundation.org/English_Books/TAQWACU_I/. The book has been published under the title ""Manaqib"" by Tafseer Foundation, Lahore, Pakistan.
